REPORT | Culleton clinches Irish Masters Championship title as Lennon creates History

Niall Culleton was in a jubilant mood on Sunday afternoon as he clinched victory in the fifth round of the Irish Darts Masters Championship over at the Springhill court hotel in Kilkenny. He enjoyed some terrific victories in the latter stages of the event as he defeated Jason Delahunty 6-3, Ciaran Teehan 6-2 in the quarter-finals In the semi-finals Culleton came up against Benny Grace, he continued his red-hot form as he booked his place in the final as he defeated Grace 6-3. History was made in the event as the Irish PDC star Steven Lennon hit a nine-dart leg in his semi-final victory against Dylan Powell in which he went on to win 6-2.

In the final, Niall Culleton’s delightful form throughout the day continued as he edged out Lennon 6-2 to clinch the title. In the Ladies event it was 13-year old Katie Sheldon who brilliantly went on to win her second Ladies title in successive years as she defeated Breda Kelliher in the final. The teenage sensation Ciaran Teehan was victorious in the youth event after a terrific last-leg deciding win over Killian Heffernan 4-3 in the final. The Grand Finals of 2017 Irish Masters takes place in Clonmel Park on July 30th.
