Veenstra Triumphs in Remote Darts League Two!

Dutchman Richard Veenstra crowned himself Remote Darts League Champion on Monday Night as the 2nd edition came to a close with victory over Paul Hogan in the decider, denying the Englishman a chance to become Remote Darts League Champion for the 2nd time after he had lost to James Richardson in the 1st edition of the Darts at Home Tournament 2 months back.

Veenstra claimed the title over the perennial giant killer Paul Hogan!

The 1st Semi Final of the night was between Reigning and Defending Remote Darts League Champion James Richardson up against Paul Hogan, who finished 4th in the league phase having picked up 20 points from a possible 30 and was Runner Up in the 1st Remote Darts League. The match began with Hogan racing into a 4-0 lead winning legs in 13,14,16,15 darts respectively as well as hitting a 1st 180 of the night. Richardson picked up his 1st leg of the match in the 5th leg in 14 darts before Hogan fired in a 15-dart leg to go 5-1 up. Richardson fired in 3 consecutive legs in 17, 16 and 15 darts respectively to reduce the deficit to just a single leg. From there on now, Hogan dominated the match by winning 3 consecutive legs to finally end James Richardson’s unbeaten run in the Remote Darts League to book his spot in the final with an 8-4 win by winning the final 3 legs in 14,19 and 17 darts respectively and pinned his 3rd and 4th along that way.


The 2nd Semi Final of the night for a spot in the final against Paul Hogan was between Dutchman Richard Veenstra and Irishman John O’Shea. 2 points separated the two after the league phase was completed with Veenstra finishing 2nd on 22 points and O’Shea finishing in 3rd on 20 points. Veenstra began the match by storming into a 6-0 lead without giving O’Shea a sniff in winning legs in 18,17,15,21,14 and 17 darts respectively including a 1st 180 and a 121 checkout along the way. O’Shea then put his 1st leg on the board in 17 darts which turned out to be his only leg of the match as Veenstra then secured the win by winning back to back legs in 16 and 18 darts respectively and sealing an 8-1 victory and booking his spot in the final up against Paul Hogan. 

So 16 players took part in the Remote Darts League over 20 Nights of action and 120 group games played now just 2 remain, Paul Hogan took on Richard Veenstra in the final of the 2nd edition of the Remote Darts League with Hogan hoping to win the title having lost in the previous final to James Richardson in the 1st edition.

The match began with Veenstra storming into a 3-0 lead winning legs in 18,15 and 14 darts respectively including a 1st and 2nd 180 in legs 2 and 3 before Hogan picked up his 1st leg of the final in 17 darts to decrease the deficit to 2 legs. The match for the next 9 legs were all holds of throw with Veenstra winning 5 of the 9 legs in 14,21,17,13 and 16 darts respectively and Hogan winning his 4 legs in 15,19 ,17 and 19 darts respectively to make the score 8-5 going into the 14th leg where Veenstra broke Hogan’s throw in 15 darts to go within 1 of victory. In the 15th leg, Veenstra took out 76 on tops to seal the victory in 15 darts and a 10-5 victory and crowning himself Remote Darts League champion and leaving Paul Hogan with 2 defeats from 2 in each final, having lost to James Richardson in the 1st ever final of the Remote Darts League.
